Hi! I’m Rex Zakel, known online for being passionate for playing and discussing video games. Offline I’m a Libyan who immigrated to Canada, graduated in Computer Science and I work now as a Software Developer in Toronto. Hit me up if you’re near the 6ix!
My writing most often involves critique of action games and adjacent genres, I value any game that focuses on what it wants to do and does it well, but I do have a preference for challanging real-time games with a cool vibe. I espicially enjoy games that make me fight against my habits and re-think how I control or navigate them.
I am also an avid fighting game player, with my biggest acomplishment being placing 5th on Toryuken 2024 for SF6. making that the only game where I’d say I ever approached being a high-level player 😅. But I’ve dabbled in everything, Tekken, Gear, and Vsav… as long as its not a tag fighter, I probably enjoy it to some extent! I love the focus of a 1v1 compeition in general, but I should probably seriously try learning a team game at some point…
Outside of games, I also enjoy playing Soccer, Writing and Art. I am working on a story project that I can hopefully share more about on this site and show my character designs!
